Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion

Safely and effectively remove dead, damaged skin cells and improve your skin’s appearance.

What is Microdermabrasion?

The microdermabrasion treatment is a non-surgical skin treatment (less invasive than Dermabrasion) that refinishes the top layers of damaged skin, stimulates collagen production, and rejuvenates the new layers of skin beneath. Microdermabrasion safely and effectively removes dead or damaged skin cells and improves the skin’s appearance. The procedure exfoliates with a jet of fine mineral crystals passing over the skin’s surface. The crystals and dead skin cells are then vacuumed up, resulting in skin that is clearer, softer, smoother, fresher, and younger-looking *.

Why Get a Microdermabrasion Treatment?

Microdermabrasion is particularly helpful in the treatment of many skin imperfections and conditions on the face or body, including:

  • Aging skin
  • Dry and flaky skin
  • Acne & Blemishes
  • Dull and devitalized skin
  • Sun damage
  • Blotchiness and uneven skin tone
  • Poor skin texture
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Scars from acne or chickenpox

What Happens During the Microdermabrasion Procedure?

During a microdermabrasion treatment, your technician will use a hand piece that is placed against the skin. These dermabrasion crystals exfoliate the skin, and the mild suction created by the microdermabrasion system removes the skin debris and crystals. The procedure is not painful and usually takes about 30 minutes.

Though results vary, many patients will see an improvement in the texture and tone of their skin and will be pleased with their beautiful, fresh skin*.

This is a gentle and quick application with virtually no discomfort and no downtime. Normal activities can be resumed immediately. Results appear gradually, with optimal improvement usually visible after the fourth, fifth, or sixth treatment *. Some conditions may require more treatments. Regular monthly maintenance will keep results beautiful.

Before and After Care for Microdermabrasion Treatment

Before Your Treatment:

For best results, we recommend patients avoid waxing, prolonged sun exposure, and any aggressive skin procedures 2 weeks prior to their Microdermabrasion treatment.

Microdermabrasion Aftercare

Avoid the use of exfoliating products for 5-7 days after your treatment. Apply moisturizer regularly in the days following your treatment to maintain skin hydration levels. Apply sunscreen daily. This is essential following all treatments due to possible short-term increases in light sensitivity of your skin. Direct sun exposure and tanning beds should be avoided for 2 weeks after your treatment, and preferably forever, as UV rays increase the likelihood of increased pigmentation in your skin.

Risks/Common Side Effects

Mild redness and sensitivity that can last anywhere from 30 mins to an hour post treatment, due to the exfoliation.
